Most of us are taught to earn a living by selling our time.
Get a job. Build a career. Earn more. Save what you can. Repeat.
There is nothing wrong with that. But the problem is dependence: if your income relies almost entirely on your salary, then your time remains the thing you have to keep selling.
Personal Equity is my attempt to build something different.
It means using your skills, ideas, knowledge and the tools now available to us to create things you own — assets, audiences, products, businesses, intellectual property and sources of income that are not tied directly to every hour you work.
This publication is where I explore that idea in practice.
I’ll share the things I’m learning, testing and building as I try to increase ownership, reduce my dependence on a salary and gradually buy back more of my time.
